Jesse Pollock: SIT RIGHT HERE AND WATCH THE WORLD BURN

Programmed with Bold Tendencies

Selfridges Programme: The Pleasure Garden
Jesse Pollock Commissioned Window Display
5 September — 17 October
Selfridges, Duke Street, London, W1U 1LP

Inspired by his new work for Bold Tendencies 2021, 'The Granary', Jesse Pollock was  commissioned by Selfridges to respond to their  programme theme, “The Pleasure Garden", with a new widow display on Duke Street, London. The commission featured a steel mosaic of candy orange panels, illustrated with odes to Jesse's own time spent living in rural Kent, as well as dark and wilting bronze flowers, a chrome hoofed table and horse shoes, surrounded by black PVC fabric. The work interprets The Pleasure Garden as a longstanding site of nonconformism, reflecting on the ways that the countryside continues to be used as a site for sensuality, deviance and pleasure-seeking.
