Bold Tendencies 2023 explored the subject of Crisis.
Everywhere, we are told, we are in crisis. Fires burn around the worldwhilst virtues of democracy, social justice and freedom are plagued byparanoia, despair and ignorance. The language of emergency issermonised by politicians and economists, our escalating woesbroadcast by insightful yet insomniac media, doom scrolling through aninfinite ledger of tragedy.
Asking what crisis looks and feels like in the 21st century, BoldTendencies presents new sculpture commissions for our expansiverooftop spaces that welcome acclaimed international practices alongsideleading voices in contemporary art, with site-specific works by EmoryDouglas, Jenny Holzer, Kahlil Robert Irving, Sandra Poulson andAbbas Zahedi. These new works are accompanied by an off-siteinstallation by Gray Wielebinski, programmed and produced by Bold Tendencies for the Selfridges 2023 Art Block.
